Celebrating the era in which it was started back in 1953, the Mount Sinai Hospital Auxiliary held their “Celebrate 60” Birthday Bash gala last night, September 22nd, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. There were raffle prizes and also a live auction with Jeanne Beker as the auctioneer. A video was shown highlighting the Auxiliary’s impact on fundraising leadership and mentorship. Archival photos from the group’s early beginnings were shown in the video and also integrated into the event decor such as the table tops.
Canada’s own charismatic jazz crooner, Matt Dusk, was a perfect musical fit for the 50s theme with the Big Band Orchestra. The 50’s theme was carried through to the vintage dresses on display (worn by some of the Auxiliary members) and the 50’s diner food including hot dogs, hamburgers, milkshakes and pie pops. Gourmet mini plates in the spirit of TV-dinner style entrees were also served. Deliciousness all around.
The fête also gave praise to the large donation of $35 million by the Tanenbaum family this past June 2013.
Congrats to the Mount Sinai Hospital Auxiliary on reaching their 60th anniversary milestone of philanthropy. Proceeds from the gala will support the Mount Sinai Hospital Auxiliary’s $4.5 million pledge in women’s and infants’ health.
