Sometimes we become complacent and forget how culturally rich, invigorating and active Toronto truly is. It’s incredibly refreshing and inspirational to be reminded of the hidden gems that may be right around the corner from your home or office. The best way to find out, is to see your community from the eyes of a newcomer or tourist, who’s more likely to wonder, explore and try new things.

Thanks to Airbnb’s wondrous and highly knowledgeable team, I was pleasantly reminded of a fun and active community hub just around the corner from my house.

As you may or may not have heard, Airbnb in Canada has been thriving! From coast to coast, we’ve hosted over 627,000 guests from Canada and around the world. At the same time, last year, over 935,000 of us stayed with Airbnb hosts worldwide! So to celebrate the company’s success, they’ve launched #TheAirbnbBus ‘showcasing what it means to live like a local and belong anywhere’.

I happily hopped on the bus with a few new friends to discover Leaside Lawn Bowling Club. Not knowing a thing about the activity or the Club itself, I was curious and a bit intimidated at the same time. However, after getting to know the Airbnb team, including Aaron Zifkin, Canada’s Airbnb Country Manager, I quickly learned that everyone’s intentions were to have a good time, get to know one another and learn how to lawn bowl. We accomplished it all and the rest is history.

If you’re out and about Toronto this month, you’ll be able to spot #TheAirbnbBus around major historical spots and hidden gems.
