The Art Gallery of Ontario held its highly anticipated annual fundraising event on Thursday April 21st, 2016 – AGO Midnight Massive. 

This sold-out event featured artistic performances, contemporary and interactive art installations, DJ’s, drinks, and hors d’oeuvres throughout the multiple levels of the AGO.

AGO hosts an appetizing array of food and wine parings every month at Frank Restaurant, which centres on a different theme each time. I had an opportunity to attend their European styled tasting which allowed attendees to delve into everything from Spanish pintxos to hearty venison shank.

Chef de Cuisine, Ryan Wilson-Lall helms this bustling kitchen. But, this particular event is a bittersweet showcase to his talents as he is moving onto his next venture at the end of the month…

Alex Colville: Berlin Bus (1978)

The Art Gallery of Ontario launched two new ambitious exhibitions: Alex Colville and Michelangelo: Quest for Genius. We had the opportunity to discover the groundbreaking works of the influential Canadian artist, Colville, along with 30 rare drawings from the High Renaissance master, Michelangelo.

The death of legendary Canadian artist, Alex Colville, last summer was a moment to mourn, but it was important for Andrew Hunter, curator of Canadian art at the AGO, that he and his team did not close the book. The intention of AGO’s latest exhibition, Alex Colville, is never to memorialize the realist painter and his life but to reflect on “his phenomenal legacy—70 years of working as an artist, a very serious committed artist, a very serious Canadian artist.”…

David Bowie Exhibition at the AGO

Toronto is lucky to be the first North American destination of the acclaimed retrospective work from David Bowie celebrating the legendary pop culture, musical pioneer and style icon at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO).
