La Brea is back with a Kanpai Snack Bar and Jarritos pop-up collaboration with a Mexican Asian menu. They will be doing a 3 month pop-up specials featured at Kanpai on the last Mondays of each month (May 29, June 26, July 31).

Kanpai Snack Bar is the hippest Taiwanese snack and drink bar in Cabbagetown and beyond, and they only get better with their recent menu offerings.

The popular LUCKYRICE Festival came to Toronto bringing us a satisfyingly exotic and thirst-quenching event, LUCKYRICE Toronto Cocktail Feast sponsored by Bombay Sapphire East. The event aims to showcase the best in Asian-inspired cocktails from some of the most popular restaurants in the city – R&D Spadina, Blowfish, Soho House, The Good Son, Miller Tavern, Brassaii, and Bent among others. We were treated to exclusive cocktails prepared by some of Toronto’s top mixologists.

In advance of the premier food and hospitality industry’s Terroir Symposium 2015, we were lucky to get the opportunity to talk to Trevor Lui, co-owner of the new Kanpai Snack Bar in Cabbagetown.

We also got the chance to participate in the collaborative Terroir Dinner Series at Beast as documented by John Tan and the Kanpai 6-course dinner described below.

Coming up on May 11th, 2015 is the annual Terroir Symposium, a gathering of food and hospitality industry personalities to exchange ideas and foster an environment of creativity and collaborations. Past food celebrities who have attended include Daniel Boulud and Momofuku’s David Chang.
