Hush Hush party by New Collection for the TPL Foundation

It was definitely a Saturday night to remember with DJs and open bar at the intimately-sized after-hours party at the incredible and spacious Bloor/Gladstone branch. And it was not just a great party for the sake of a great party: it was all in support of the Toronto Public Library Foundation.

I really enjoyed all the careful attention to details of this well put-together event thrown by New Collection, The Toronto Public Library Foundation’s young patrons group. Even though it was the inaugural event, you could tell this was very well thought out. Everything was top notch: the decor, the entertainment by DJ Fathom and DJ GeeWizz, spoken word poet, magician Jonathan Pollock, and “Hush Hush” tattoos. It was great that there was enough drink and food stations (delectable oysters, gourmet donuts) to make the party more than a typical crowded-perpetually-standing-in-line party. Rather it was pleasant, spacious and enjoyable on all fronts. Even TV reporters and police officers came by with big smiles for this unique occasion.

Fun prizes were given out as well including e-book readers and a flight from Porter Airlines.

Proving that libraries aren’t always uptight and stuffy, bravo to all the organizers for throwing an incredible “party in the stacks” to remember in support of the busiest library system in the world.
