It was perfect weather for the first official day of summer on Sunday June 21st, which was also the final day for the annual Polo for Heart 2015 games at the Toronto Polo Club, with Canada vs. Ireland. I was excited to go , not only because I’d never had the chance before, but also to take in the duchess-like ‘street’ style, and dapper men’s sartorial suits, as polo is known as “the sport of kings.”

Style at polo games has always been a big part of the experience for both men and women and is watched just as closely as the match itself. Extravagant hats and white dresses are popular choices for the ladies, and expected to exude dramatic class. Attendees mused over the game in soft pastels, a-line dresses, light whites and a variety of wide-brimmed hats. The men also, did not disappoint , and came out full force with blazers and brogues, ready to spectate in style.

In the end it was Canada who beat Ireland for the friendly exhibition match but everyone celebrated the great day with perfect sunny weather and some bubbly.

In addition to the lovely style and polo experience, two flocks of doves were set free, in honour of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A perfect touch for the charity equestrian event.

Guests also had a chance to bid on silent auction items with proceeds going to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Southlake Foundation.

The involvement of FGI (Fashion Group International), made this an extra special day for Polo for Heart, as they joined forces to raise funds for the cause.

FGI is a global, non-profit organization with over 7,000 members, recognized as a leading forum for fashion, beauty and lifestyle.
