Queen West's Mavrik Wine Bar pairs tacos with wine

We drank, we ate and we drank some more!

Who would have thought tacos and wine would work so well together? After 2 years on Queen West just west of Bathurst, Mavrik Wine Bar introduces Toronto to wine and taco pairing with new wine and food menu options, and they’ve refreshed the overall dining experience.

In 2011, young co-owners Elizabeth Choi and Joanne Park decided to put their budding careers on hold to pursue their passion for wine. Their goal was to help small production wineries showcase their limited batch wines that can’t make it to the LCBO with their production limitations. The pair teamed up with Chef Walter Mena and together they have done an amazing job mixing, matching and balancing the flavours of food and small production wine on their menu. Offering us recommended pairings such as sweet potato taco and Muscat from Lailey Vineyard (one of my hard to find favourites) – simply divine!

But with every menu item, it seems they’ve committed themselves to offering not only scrumptious eats but also healthy choices, an exceptionally challenging task with which they’ve hit the mark, leaving us happy and in search of more wine to discover at Mavrik.

Wine, tacos, salads and cheese, cozy and friendly… that’s all I need for a good night out.
