How would you like to swim with the sharks in the GTA? Yeah, that’s a Shark Tank line. It’s fitting given that SURFSET Fitness was the most successfully backed business deal on Season 4, and the first GTA location is open today, December 8th.

The idea was developed by a group of hockey players looking for a solid and fun off season endurance and strength workout. The beauty of SURFSET is that your supporting muscle groups will get as much training as your main muscles. Being in the class with an instructor for only 10 minutes, makes you break a sweat, and going for a 45 minute class will certainly give you a full body burning sensation. Dedicated enough to stick to a regular schedule? I’m thinking getting ripped may be in your future.

What’s so special? The blessing (and a curse) is in the Bosu stability ball that the surfboard is strapped onto, so your muscles are balancing and trying to maintain stability while performing a mix of calisthenics, Pilates and yoga exercises. As if those exercises aren’t hard enough without maintaining balance! SURFSET is certainly a different way to keep your workouts entertaining and challenging.

The cozy studio north of Yonge and Eglinton (2841A Yonge St.) is run by a group of experienced, friendly and dedicated women who are in the know about staying fit and injury free. The studio offers 4 different classes for up to 12 people.

Operating hours are as follows:
Mon, Wed, Fri 7AM-10PM
Tue, Thu 6AM-10PM
Sat 8AM-4PM
Sun 9AM-3PM
