On Dec. 10th I previewed the Denham “Byzantine” SS15 collection at The Publicist Group office at 64 Fraser Avenue in Liberty Village. It was a great space to house the event with exposed brick in a studio feel, which complemented the jean line perfectly.
Moving through the racks of the men’s and women’s Spring Summer 2015 upcoming line was a fine execution of sartorial mixed with anarchy. These were strong essentials, focused around denim, which belong in every wardrobe. The quality tailoring, butter soft fabrics, and styles made for an outstanding combination of effortless edge.
Amsterdam-based, British designer Jason Denham made his company from the ground up, coming from a long line of family tailors. He started out his career by spending 8 years in the denim industry and then set up a denim consultancy, Clinic & In Amsterdam. Later he began premium jean brand, Blue Blood.
Denim has always been the man’s passion and in 2008 he wanted people to share his excitement for jeans, so began Denham. The only 7-point pocket jean company in the world. The approach behind the line is “Worship tradition. Destroy convention.”
The man knows how to cut jeans and his love of his antique and almost museum quality tailor scissor collection promotes the Byzantine SS15 line. The inspiration for the collection is exploring lost worlds, using patterns and graphics which reference these places, archaeology as well as travelling. House guest artist, Matt W. Moore created some kaleidoscopic stand out styles which bring Byzantine art to the modern forefront.
It is obvious how much Denham cares about the integrity of denim and I can’t wait ‘till spring to get a pair! These are the jeans you’ll be wondering why you’ve never been wearing them before. Look for them at Harry Rosen, Over the Rainbow, and Leigh and Harlow locations.
