This past Friday and Saturday, the music festival known as Bestival arrives for the first time from the UK with a few big names including Florence and the Machine and Nas, which took place this past Friday and Saturday at Hanlan’s Point Beach on the Toronto Islands.
That’s not to say there weren’t plenty of other great names, indeed this was a top summer music festival as we mentioned and it did indeed deliver.
Bestival brought out it’s own unique take on concerts including a GetCurious jungle, a Perrier Greenhouse and even an inflatable love church. Bestival is all about increasing the peace.

The Bollywood stage was probably the most photographed area with it’s vibrant colours and of course shooting flames that lit up the night sky.
I had already seen the great Keys N Krates a couple times including the recent Ever After Fest so I didn’t get a chance to see them at Bestival – but definitely check them out if you haven’t already.

It was my first time hearing Banks and she was electric on stage.
At the end of the two day festivities, it was time for some classic hip hop with living legendary rapper, Nas. He brought out everyone’s favourites including “If I Ruled the World” and critically acclaimed Illmatic album.
Leaving a festival on the Toronto Island, you should definitely try to leave early if you can. I left in the middle of the amazing Nas performance, but even that wasn’t early enough to avoid the end of the night ferry queues. So let’s all try to plan ahead next time!
All in all it was good festival vibes and the weather on Saturday was as good as it gets.
