It was a long but rewarding day at the One x One Million Meals charity event starting with a “meal packing party” at the Kool Haus followed by a reception and star-studded concert at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts.
The goal of this new initiative is to kick start the packing of a million meals for hungry underprivileged children across North America. It starts with 100,000 meals packed at this event and spreading the message that anyone can make a difference for just one dollar.
I took a cab and got right down to business with the rest of my teammates packing 100,000 healthy meals alongside 500+ local volunteers including our own Canadian celebrities: musician Alyssa Reid, supermodel Stacey McKenzie, members of the Toronto Argonauts and hot new Canadian band, MAGIC!, with their hot catchy reggae tune “Rude” reaching international charts.
After the intense packing marathon we headed over to the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts for the red carpet, party and concert.
And what a line-up of a concert it was with Kardinal Offishall getting everyone into it, as he always does.
Following that we had the multi-talented Alyssa Reid performing her crowd-pleasing hits.
Then there was MAGIC! as mentioned above with their groovy tunes including “Rude” when everyone was on their feet.
Simple Plan simply rocked the house with guests young and old (okay, mostly young) rushing to the front section of Sony Centre with the encouragement of Pierre Bouvier.
