As soon as the Monday workday ended for the 9-5ers, some famous faces hit Soho House’s third floor Pretzel bar for a low-key cocktail to fete their Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) film My Days of Mercy.
The film is a convoluted lesbian romance starring Oscar nominee and Canadian powerhouse Ellen Page and Kate Mara, who are close friends in real-life.
Guests included Page as well as Mara, Amy Seimetz, director Tali Shalom Ezer, and producer Christine Vachon. While Page made it until about the halfway mark of the 5-7pm cocktail party, her co-star was still there, happily chatting away with guests when we headed out around 6:50.
With her blonde hair pulled back into an artsy-looking ponytail, Mara stayed on the more casual side of the TIFF fashion scene in skinny black pants paired with black, silver-studded, open-heeled Alexander Wang pumps. “They’re in the store right now!” she told a fellow admirer of the shoes.
Throughout the party, the guests enjoyed specialty Grey Goose cocktails and Soho House’s assortment of sweet and savoury bite-size pieced of goodness.
