Toronto has a lot of great places to go for post-work socializing and Biff’s Bistro is one of them. While the $1 oysters after 5 pm has been available for a while, Biff’s Bistro has added even more reason to visit for happy hour with it’s new “Ménage à Trois, Quatre, Cinq” promotion.
How does it work? Well it’s simple – at 3 pm, selected bar items go for special pricing at $3. At 4 pm, the same items cost $4; at 5 pm, they cost $5; and at 6 pm the prices return to normal. The items and their portion sizes don’t change. What items qualify for this promotion? For drinks your choices are a full 20z pint of Mill St. Organic or Mad Tom IPA on draught, and a 6oz Rosehall Run red or white wine on tap.
As for food, there is a bar snack on special each day, written on the board at the bar. The snack follows the theme for that weekday, which is either vegetarian, meat, pork, or fish. The vegetarian dish we tried was a gougère – a choux pastry filled with goat cheese mousse infused with herbed garlic and lemon.
The fish dish was called “Cha ca la vong”, which was inspired by Chef Amanda Ray‘s travels to Vietnam. It is a lettuce wrap whose filling was a marinated catfish, topped with a yogurt sauce, herbs and some sliced pickled vegetables.
Finally, we tried a savoury platter of braised lamb with lentils on a bed of radicchio.
All three dishes were delicious, and at the special pricing, more than worth the price. If you can make it at the 3 pm, you can get your drinks and snacks at their lowest price at $3, but the best hour in my opinion is 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm, where you can enjoy $4 drinks and snacks to start, and then enjoy $1 oysters when 5 pm hits.
The Ménage à Trois, Quatre, Cinq promotion is going now, available from Monday to Friday, so definitely drop by while it lasts.
Biff’s Bistro is located at 4 Front St E. (across from the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts)
