The McMichael Gallery held it’s annual Moonlight Gala on and it was quite a night to be there under the stars on June 6, 2015.
If you’ve never been to the McMichael Gallery, you should definitely make a point to do so.
The McMichael Gallery has a permanent collection proudly showcasingthe Canadian works of almost 6,000 artworks by Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven, their contemporaries, and First Nations, Métis, Inuit and other artists who have made a significant contribution to the development of Canadian art.
Great live performances by Sean Jones (before celebrating his album launch at Casa Loma which we photographed).
Headlining performance was by Juno award-winning jazz singer, Sophie Milman, who brought out some sultry vocals fitting for the evening.
Then Amanda Martinez brought out the Latin heat to warm up the the perfect spring evening outdoors. She was really great, you must see her when you get a chance! You can catch her at the upcoming Panamania festivities for the Pan Am Games.
As always, the Moonlight Gala had great variety of food and also a South St. Burger food truck serving late night burgers for those that were still hungry (including myself!) as well as fine cheese with maple syrup.
There was also a vast selection of prizes to be bid upon at the silent auction while enjoying also desserts including take home bags of Lindt chocolates that were made on the spot. Incredible!
Guests in attendance included Jeanne Beker, Beverley Thompson, Steve Paikin, Maurizio Bevilacqua (Mayor of Vaughan), and Charles Pachter.
The Moonlight Gala raised $225,000 for the McMichael Gallery. For more information visit www.mcmichael.com
