On July 21st, 2015 the first of a series of Dreaming Tree Groves was launched starting in Toronto including the planting of 29 new trees to reforest an area within Trinity Bellwoods Park.

The multi-city project was launched with Tree Canada and Dreaming Tree Wines. As you may know, the winery is a collaboration between musician Dave Matthews and Sean McKenzie.

The 29 new trees will certainly help Toronto’s urban green canopy as approximately 88 trees in Trinity Bellwoods Park must be destroyed due to the Emerald Ash Borer which has been ravaging Ontario’s ash trees.

I had the opportunity to join a press conference with Sean McKenzie, Richard Walker from Tree Canada and representatives from the City of Toronto’s Parks Forestry and Recreation.

Standing here, the old man said to me, long before these crowded streets, here stood the Dreaming Tree

Proceeds from every bottle of Dreaming Tree wines are donated to Tree Canada.

Toronto’s popular Trinity Bellwoods Park is a 14.6 hectare park near Queen and Strachan with 3 baseball diamonds, 8 tennis courts, 2 volleyball courts, an artificial ice rink, a dog off-leash area and more.

On an unrelated note, check out some photos I took with my phone of the Dreaming Tree lunch with food pairings from Noce restaurant on Queen West. It was my first time there and it was definitely a treat!
