Glen Baxter with Diesel Canada president, Joey Adler

We were lucky to be invited to the media preview of the new Diesel Yorkdale store as part of the exciting Yorkdale expansion grand opening last week.

“We are excited to be opening the doors of a third Diesel retail location in Canada!”, said Joey Adler, President of Diesel Canada. “Our new Yorkdale retail store is the first and only Canadian location within a shopping mall and marks our continued growth across the country. This day marks a milestone for the Diesel brand in Canada and we look forward to celebrating it with our loyal fans and customers.”

As part of the opening, a contest was held where four fashion bloggers were invited to style mannequins with pieces from Diesel’s SS13 collection. They included Julio (Fashionights), Nelia (Style Blog), Sharon (The Backseat Stylers) and Jay Strut. Visitors to the store voted by tweeting their favourite styled mannequin for a chance to win a Diesel gift card.

Fans went wild for Kardinal Offishall!

It was a concert extravaganza featuring great performances by Kreesha Turner, Mia Martina, Kardinal Offishall and multiple Juno Award winner K’naan following the awards ceremony at the Telus Players Party!  Great moments included when Kardinal Offishal went up to the front row and got up close and personal with fans in the middle of his performance.  The crowd also went wild when the Toronto Argos Cheerleaders surprised us and danced on the stage.  What a great way to celebrate 100 years of the Grey Cup!

The energy was still high up through the end of The Purple Party in support of Childhood Cancer Canada. The evening was hosted by former NHL enforcer and Stanley Cup champion, Brad May, and his wife Bridgette May.

The Drake Hotel was packed full of philanthropists, athletes, and celebrities including CFL Hall of Famer, Damon Allen and Yannick Bisson, from the Murdoch Mysteries, the ever-so photogenic international supermodel, Stacey McKenzie, Gabrielle Miller, Stacy-Ann Buchanan, Lyriq Bent, John Shannon, Steve salos, John Mitchell, Michelle Dube, and Paul Bliss.

The Purple Party spanned both the ground floor as well as the “Sky Yard” rooftop lounge. There was even a fire pit with tree branches for roasting marshmallows!
