On Thursday, October 16th, 2014, the illustrious Four Seasons Centre was illuminated for the annual Operanation gala. It’s the signature fundraiser of the Canadian Opera Company, this time with the theme of “Light Up the Night”.
Inspired by the COC’s production of The Barber of Seville, the theme was modern Spanish flare with a touch of 90’s neon for a night filled with music, visual and performing arts, fashion and food.

This year’s feature musical entertainment was by French dance-pop sensation, Yelle. They performed tracks from their latest album, Complètement fou, favourites as well performing in collaboration with the Canadian Opera Company’s Ensemble Studio (a premiere training ground for young opera professionals) in keeping with Operanation’s tradition of “opera-meets-modern-music”. It was a rousing live performance thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance that got everyone dancing and shaking their hips.
