What’s on the Table is not just another food event. It is a gourmet food gala organized by The Stop Community Food Centre, a non-profit organization whose goal is to provide access to healthy food for all and community building.. The event is in its 12th year and it was held on November 2nd, 2016 at the Daniels Spectrum.

With over 30 participating restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, and wine companies, there was only one thing we could say, happy feasting! The portions for all of the food stations were quite generous and the variety available also meant that there was definitely something to suit every taste. Personally, some of our favourites included the pâté on toast by Richmond Station, tuna tartare and salmon oshi duo by Miku, the filled mini donuts by The Rolling Pin, bo ssam lettuce wraps by Provisions Catering, and the oysters from Hooked. The selection of oysters included Savage Blond PEI, Fortune Bay PEI, and Irish Point PEI.

In terms of drinks, there was a wide selection of drinks available from coffee and tea by Kurtis Coffee; hot chocolate chai by Pluck Teas; beer by Steam Whistle; and red and white wine from various wine companies including Cave Spring, Stratus, and Flat Rock Cellars, just to name a few. For those who wanted something a little on the healthier side, Pluck Teas provided a Southbrook tea with no added sugar. Simple but yet still delicious at the same time.

All in all, the event was a big hit and it raised over $326,000 this year for The Stop.
