On Monday, June 19, the city’s rum-lovers began the workweek with an epic, high-energy party that had everyone foregoing their “no getting drunk on a Monday” rule.

Treating guests to ample vacation vibes after a long-ass winter, go-to rum brand Bacardi transformed Leslieville’s Barrio into the tropical pop-up celebration that was Playa Bacardi.

In town for the occasion was Bacardi Brand Ambassador Juan from New York City.

Naturally, there were no shortage clinking glasses – and coconuts – filled with Bacardi’s summer lineup of rum cocktails. These included the Ananas Old-Fashioned, the El Coco and the Cardamom Mojito.

Aside from the decked-out (and totally photo-worthy) patio, other talking points included a classic pig roast for jerk pulled pork sandwiches, a lively limbo game, Caribbean dancers that inspired an impromptu conga line and a busy, prop-filled photo booth.

Although the downtown core-dwelling guests may have had to make a little journey to Leslieville, it was a small Uber tab to pay for a night in the Caribbean.

As for the mild Tuesday hangover, that’s another story (but still worth it)…
