As described in wikipedia, Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery, especially in a setting inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century, or a post apocalyptic environment. The Venetian Ball is an annual gala filled with Italian passion, flair and elegance in the spirit of Venice’s Carnevale.  The dazzling Venetian masks, evening gowns, decadent bites, fine beverages, and a plenitude of live musical performances all make this event a worthy attraction to draw in 1,500 guests to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. On Oct 21, 2012 join over 130 chefs in possibly the largest one-day culinary soup-based protest in the world.  This delicious event will raise awareness to stop the proposed Highland Companies’ Mega-Quarry north of Toronto.   This follows last year’s sequel to 2011’s Foodstock, where dozens of chefs, farmers and musicians and 28,000 supporters gathered for this cause.
