The best way to open a fashion week is by honouring those who have impacted the industry in a big way. The Fashion Group International (FGI) knows how to do it right, as they did just that with their luncheon on Monday, March 23rd, when they celebrated the many achievements and successes of Bonnie Brooks by awarding her with FGI’s International Award of the Year.
Although the curtains have drawn to a close for World MasterCard Fashion Week, we remember the glitz and glamour of all the after parties and events that help make fashion week exhilarating and memorable. One such event was on March 26th, 2015, Holt Renfrew’s celebration of international designer Fausto Puglisi who known for his bold, bright and sexy designs that have a touch of flare and drama.
With an obvious focus on outerwear this was a collection with something for everyone, whether battling the frozen urban jungle or heading off the beaten path to brave the polar tundra. All encompassing in terms of climate but colour as well, the Rudsak collection ran the gamut from fur-trimmed parka to leather motoʼs and textured toppers for both sexes in shades of black, camel, khaki, olive, charcoal and dove grey. “The better you dress – the WORSE you can behave” – was one of the closing lines in an email Jay Strut sent a few weeks before Toronto Fashion Week outlining his plans to host a week of events this season. And his series of events were some of wild fashion week after-parties and on that Jay Strut certainly delivered.
“A well known ritual for the past twenty years, after every fashion show David Dixon has stopped and picked up a hamburger on the way home” and on Tuesday March 24th guests were invited to join in David’s tradition at Wahlburgers following his Joan of Arc themed 20 year anniversary show.
