The third annual “Glitter In Macau” gala, in support of SickKids Foundation, was hosted on March 5, 2016 at Arcadian Court. The glamorous night was filled with amazing food, open bar and attendees were able to test their luck at blackjack tables, roulette or play the wheel of fortune.
The night brought over 350 attendees in support of infants and families treated in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at SickKids. The evening raised $480,000, they raised $2.1 million to-date, where it gives fragile babies a better chance of living a long and healthy life. The proceeds support hospital equipments, patient care programs and a new neonatal MRI unit for the hospital.
The night began with performances from SickKids patients. Anson Hui, 17 year old pianist, traveled throughout North America and Europe performing with some of the world’s most acclaimed classical musicians. Anson is diagnosed with a genetic condition, which requires treatment from SickKids, since he was two years old. Other performers include the Chinese Artists Society of Toronto’s String Quartet. Jenny Chun performed her amazing talent as a vocalist, in honour of her cousin Kenneth. She was the champion of the Hong Kong Travel Industry Toronto Association singing contest in 2008, Top 16 in the 2003 Toronto New talent Singing Competition.
The Honourary Chair, Irwin Li, has a special connection with SickKids and is dedicated to give back, as his son was treated for a life-altering condition. His speech was touching, as he shows how the hospital provides world-class service while curing a child of a serious disease and how that results in saving an entire family’s future.
Oliver & Bonacini food included raw oysters, roasted pork, cilantro & chilli flat iron steak, peking duck, Taiwanese fried chicken, sushi, lobster roll, and much more.
Attendees were also able to partake in shopping from the luxury pop-up shops from Mulberry and Ritchies. The casino rounded out the rest of the evening with guests enjoying blackjack, roulette and more.
