We were lucky to be invited to get a taste of the new Ultra Supper Club to indulge in Pan-Asian flavours by Executive Chef Kihyun Kim. Knowing that it’s from INK events and Charles Khabouth, you can expect quality and attention to detail will be delivered. And what a special sensory experience it was!

For those that have been around the block for a while, people know Ultra from the go-to place to party downtown in the early 2000s.

There’s 3 different rooms with deco inspired by Alexander McQueen for whatever you’re in the mood for. Lounging at the “Onyx Bar” sipping premium cocktails in a casual atmosphere (shoutout to Nish and Vitesh for taking care of us) or soaking in summer at rooftop Mineral Bar. We were in the photogenic “Ochre Room” dripping in finesse and elegance with gold and textures to set the mood just right. For our dinner experience we enjoyed the relaxed ambiance with just the right music and tempo. I especially enjoyed how we could have a conversation and also hear our server’s recommendations without straining to hear. Acoustics done right!

We especially loved the miso black cod, Wagyu Australian steak at a sizeable 10oz with charred kimchi, asian style chimichurri. For elevated comfort food get the lobster fried rice. And then there was the impressive sashimi platter: be sure to try the house made wasabi with subtle natural kick.

Cocktails we loved are the “Devil’s Midnight” with tobacco-inspired including down to the bitters selected… without tobacco, of course! Refreshing. Afterwards for sipping it’s a smooth Moon Royal martini with a great balance of orange blossom infused ketel one, aperol, maraschino liqueur.

The dessert menu is understated simplicity but when it arrives to your table, it’s a crowd pleaser you will want to share with someone special. I would recommend the Chocolate Cake, a deconstructed decadence of sweet textures.

After dinner, you might want to consider the full experience by signing up for Ultra’s Late Night Series on Fridays and Saturdays from 11pm-2am.

Ultra is located at 12 St Clair Avenue East, for more details visit ultra-toronto.com
