The 2nd annual Right to Play Charity Ball brought in a ton of celebrities in support of “Right to Play”, dubbed one of Canada’s fastest growing international humanitarian organizations. The Right to Play Ball was founded by Glen Baxter, fashion television journalist, host of CTV’s In Fashion, and just an all-round nice guy. To start off Melanoma Awareness month in May, the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund held their annual event on May 1st, 2013. This year it was at the Six Degrees Event Centre in midtown Toronto. It was a cozier, more intimate space than last year’s event at Liberty Grand – a welcome, refreshing change of scenery. For over 25 years, the AWHL (Assaulted Women’s Helpline) has strived to provide completely free 24/7 support to women who have been assaulted. This is available in up to 154 languages, and is completely anonymous and confidential. 49,000 women call the helpline every year in the Greater Toronto Area. The annual POGO Gala held in support of children with cancer was held on April 20th, 2013 at the Liberty Grand. Last year I was lucky to have won tickets to attend, so being able to come again this year brought back some nostalgia as one of the first galas that @FashionEcstasyT and I went to together. The Gala of Light is a fundraiser held in support of homeless women in downtown Toronto via a multi-program agency called Street Haven at the Crossroads that has been around 1965.
