The Ontario Science Center held its 10th annual RBC Innovators’ Ball on November 7th, 2017. This beautiful night is held once a year to fundraise for the Ontario Science Centre while celebrating science and the power of curiosity. During the cocktail reception, unique exhibits were showcased featuring technologies of young innovators as well as from the evening’s sponsors.
The 26th annual Cathay Ball, a charity gala in support of the Mon Sheong Foundation was held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Saturday November 4th. This year’s theme ‘Under the Northern Lights’ had stunning performances that accompanied the night’s affairs, echoing the sentiments of Canadian’s beauty and aspirations for the future as Canada continues its Canada 150 celebrations. Twenty luck recipients received a commemorative Canada 150 silver coin produced by the Royal Canadian Mint.
“The goal of Operanation is to showcase the versatility of opera…as a dynamic art form that continuously seeks to evolve both culturally and socially,” says Alexander Neef, General Director of the Canadian Opera Company (COC). “It shouldn’t just be listened to – it should be experienced.” This mandate clearly sets the stage for A Night of Curiosities, the theme for the COC’s 13th annual mega fundraiser. On Saturday March 4th, the Chinese Cabinet at the SickKids Foundation marked its 4th annual Glitter event in support of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. This year’s theme was ‘Glitter in Shanghai’ that brought back to life the allure and eccentricities of Shanghai of the 1920’s. Guests wore glamorous Chinese qipaos which evolved from traditional garb to modern classical lines. The venue, Arcadian Court was decorated in similar style that hinted at the romanticized period.
It’s no surprise that the Motionball Toronto Gala is one of our favorite Charity events in the city’s vibrant social scene. There’s a certain sense of grandeur and elegance that the organization has been able to consistently deliver year after year. Old Hollywood glamour was 2017’s theme and with the Historical Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex as the stage, flowing red carpets, and endless flowing libations, it’s difficult for attendees to not feel like a star.
