Cafeteriá, is the newest Mexican resto of the 6-restaurant chain, Mas Playas owned by Dave Sidhu. You may be familiar with Playa Cabana Cantina, Hacienda, La Libre, Barrio Coreano, and Cocina Economica already, but with the launch of this 8 month project, the theme of Cafeteriá is more close to home and focused on different regions of their Mexican heritage in a formal manner.

Celebrating their first year anniversary at Bloor Street’s Koreatown, John and I were invited to sample the latest menu items and cocktails at Barrio Coreano, a casual yet lively Korean-Mexican eatery. Featuring a menu of shareable plates, soft and crispy tacos and cocktails, Barrio Coreano is part of the Playa Cabana empire headed by Dave Sidhu.

Boldly placing a Mexican taco restaurant in Toronto’s Korea town on Bloor Street, Playa Cabana’s empire expands with Korean-influenced Mexican taco cuisine. Barrio Coreano is the 4th addition to Dave Sidhu’s successful chain. Taco varieties include Korean beef, grilled octopus with wasabi salsa, spicy carnita, yuzu tuna, and chipotle kampungki chicken.
