TIFF‘s annual fundraising event, BOOMBOX, once again brings awareness to major exhibition’s opening. Last year, the exhibition was in celebration of the work of Canadian David Cronenberg. This year, it’s an exhibition dedicated to the creative genius and film legacy of Stanley Kubrick.

It’s that time of year again where TIFF kicks off another highly-anticipated signature exhibition with a special filmmaker. For this year’s occasion, TIFF programming takes us into the mind of Stanley Kubrick.

The death of legendary Canadian artist, Alex Colville, last summer was a moment to mourn, but it was important for Andrew Hunter, curator of Canadian art at the AGO, that he and his team did not close the book. The intention of AGO’s latest exhibition, Alex Colville, is never to memorialize the realist painter and his life but to reflect on “his phenomenal legacy—70 years of working as an artist, a very serious committed artist, a very serious Canadian artist.”…

Two years in the making, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) has just unveiled their latest exhibition, The Forbidden City, now open for public viewing.

On Thursday October 30th, 2013, the TIFF Bell Lightbox had a launch party that spanned 3 floors of the spacious, modern venue to mark the opening of the largest exhibition celebrating all the works of David Cronenberg, one of Canada’s most prolific and iconic filmmakers of our time. Cronenberg is one of the film industry’s originators of what is commonly known as the body horror or venereal horror genre (take the classic movie The Fly), for example.
