Bigger and better, The Artist Project is back this weekend, maturing and growing in a variety of ways in it’s 8th year. Catch it at the Better Living Centre at the Exhibition until February 22nd.
In the midst of the fray of opening night last night, I was lucky to partake in a stroll up and down the aisles with show director, Claire Taylor. Continue reading→
Comments Off on Panorama Lounge reinvents itself as The One Eighty
What is old is new again and conceptualized in the re-invention of Toronto’s beloved former Panorama Lounge on the 51st floor of Manulife Centre. Add a mixture of elegance, glamour, luxury, and hospitality to complement. The design, touches and finishes are reminiscent of the golden age of the 1920’s with a modern Los Angeles inspired flair; warm, earthy wood textures against palettes of cooler tones, accentuated by a glossy white ceiling. So oddly enough, we got invited to be part of a Canadian plumbing faucet company’s 20th anniversary celebration at St James Cathedral Church last week on Feb 11, 2015. While we weren’t sure what to expect, we were blown away by the dazzling array of lively performances and entertainment which kept guests dancing and singing late into the night. Continue reading→
Comments Off on Marilyn: Forever Blonde, Forever Remembered
“Hollywood is a place where they’ll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul. I know, because I turned down the first offer often enough and held out for the fifty cents”.
The original blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe, had once famously explained with wit out of frustration from being labeled by the very industry that propelled her to stardom. Even after 53 years since her untimely death, she is still revered and now celebrated in Nu Musical Productions’ one-woman show, Marilyn: Forever Blonde. Starring the acclaimed Sunny Thompson, Marilyn was reborn on stage at the historic Winter Garden Theatre last week. Continue reading→
Comments Off on Young professionals flock to the first ever Suitcase Party for the Children’s Aid Foundation
More and more, young professionals are getting involved in charitable causes, and so what a great idea it was for the Children’s Aid Foundation to conceive an event targeted at young professionals. Hence, the first ever Suitcase Party was born, held at The Citizen on February 11th, 2015. It was a very exclusive event, with only 650 tickets available which sold out quickly.
Those who chose to purchase VIP tickets were able to attend the VIP hour from 6-7 pm. During this time guests enjoyed open bar privileges with wine and beer. Complimentary cocktails were served by sponsors Gentleman Jack and Blue Hour, including an Irish-inspired creation using the captured smoke from burning wood chips, La Hora Azul-Blue® Tequila Anejo, espresso, Bailey’s Irish Cream, and butterscotch schnapps, finally topped off with sponge toffee crumble.

Silent auction items
At 7 pm, the venue started to get packed, with the remaining young professionals arriving, every one of them dressed to impress. They came to not only support the Children’s Aid Foundation, but also for the chance to network with the leaders in their industries, and each other. Aside from networking, attendees could participate in the silent auction for various items geared to the young professional crowd, including tickets to OVO Fest, a Canada Goose jacket, tech gadgets, and sports memorabilia. They also had the chance to be playful and have their pictures taken at one of two photo booths, hosted by Notable and Air Canada.
Air Canada was the official airline sponsor, hence the travel-themed name of the event. Three sets of lucky winners were drawn on the night, going on one of three luxury getaways to either Miami, Las Vegas, or New York. Another desired prize was the 18-karat gold diamond ring, courtesy of sponsor Royal de Versailles.
Congratulations to the organizers of the first ever Suitcase Party for a successful sold-out event. A good time was had by all, and more importantly, over $53,000 was raised for the Children’s Aid Foundation, going towards Canada’s most abused and neglected children.
