Black Oak Brewery's Nut Brown Ale with ChocoSol Traders' chocolate

On May 13th, we attended the Brewers Plate, now in its 8th year, at the Corus Quay building on Toronto’s east waterfront. The Brewers Plate is a charitable event that celebrates Ontario’s brewers and farmers. This year, it took on a rock-and-roll theme, inviting guests to wear tees of their favourite bands and concerts.

With 30 chefs, 4 wineries, and 2 breweries, this year’s Recipe for Change event was a food lovers’ dream. Held at the St. Lawrence Market North Market, attendees had three hours to wine and dine, all in support of FoodShare‘s programs to raise food literacy and boost healthy food in schools.

More and more, young professionals are getting involved in charitable causes, and so what a great idea it was for the Children’s Aid Foundation to conceive an event targeted at young professionals. Hence, the first ever Suitcase Party was born, held at The Citizen on February 11th, 2015. It was a very exclusive event, with only 650 tickets available which sold out quickly.

Cook for the Cure

In support of the Aids Committee of Toronto (ACT), the annual SNAP! fundraising gala was held at Andrew Richards Design on March 6, 2014. The evening gave guests the opportunity to bid on pieces of photographic art while at the same time raising funds for ACT’s programs and initiatives to reduce HIV transmission and support those living with HIV.

Since it’s inception in 2009, Paws for the Cause has supported a variety of charitable initiatives including the OSPCA, the Ontario Veterinary College’s Pet Trust Fund, and the Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic. They’ve even created an annual scholarship at the University of Guelph granted to a veterinary student, fondly named the Chloe Award after founder Laura Serra’s own dog.
