Market St. – the small street beside the world renowned St. Lawrence Market – has had a renaissance in the last few months. Several years of revitalization culminated this year with the opening of many new dining spots in this newly reborn strip. At its the northernmost end, you’ll find Barsa Taberna – a restaurant whose concept is inspired by the dining culture in Barcelona.

Across the street from the Scotiabank Theatre, nestled in a quiet corner of Toronto’s garment district, you might notice a white circular sign with a horse on it. This is where you’ll find Thoroughbred Food and Drink, a recently opened contemporary Canadian restaurant. We paid a lunch time visit there on September 19th to discover just what it’s all about.

We’re giving away a pair of tickets to the “Taste Local Wine and Pie Pop Up” event at the LCBO this Friday. It’s an event celebrating great Ontario wine and pie pairings for a tasty pop-up event. Mmmm… PIE!

The first ever Taste Festival in North America was held in Toronto at the Fort York National Historic Site from July 24 to 27. This event brought together some of Toronto’s acclaimed chefs and rising stars of Toronto’s restaurant scene, allowing guests to sample over 50 dishes from their respective restaurants.

The popular South African wine brand, Two Oceans Wines, unveiled the new look of their family of wines in Toronto at Polson Pier’s Solarium. Their revamped packaging gives prominence to the the iconic shape of the Cape Peninsula coastline in South Africa.

Synonymous with citrus groves, the scenic Valencia is home to many Spanish delicacies, including a new Tempranillo debuting at the LCBO with the distinctive name, Radio Boka. Last week at iYellow Wine Cave, I had the pleasure of tasting this versatile red with the makers of the wine.
