Guests gave in to their guilty pleasures at Power Ball XVIII: Pleasure Principle on Thursday, June 2nd at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery with an explosion of art installations, performances, cocktails and culinary delights.
Guests were greeted by Max Mara’s projection of their FW runway show and award winning ballet dancer, Javon Jones stylishly clad in a custom design dancing throughout the night.
The 6ix’s trendy crowd was fed by local talent Parts & Labour, and Squish Candies and over-served innovative cocktails by Bar Chef, Walter Caeser, Beet gin and Patron. The Sailor’s Mojito was a definite crowd pleaser with a taste of summer and let’s not forget our good friend Jack Daniels who made a splash.
The outfits were imaginative and sometimes scantily clad.
If you were lucky enough to be VIP you witnessed an incredible performance by New York based Ryan McNamera in the Harbourftont Centre Theatre.
Everywhere you looked The Power Plant was decorated with creativity that made you desire, question and blink to ensure your eyes weren’t playing tricks on you.
Karen Tam’s Opium Den was sexy and dark, made of bronze lanterns with a hint of exorcism. Lorina Mills Ungentrified entertained and Laura Kikauka’s performance “So you Think You Can Can Can!?!” had Diamond Toronto dancers in a furry of motion.
One of our personal favourites were the multiple lip Installations made of lights and lipsticks, but that’s all we will say. We never kiss and tell.
If you missed us it was because we were living our inner kid playing with inflatables and dancing our asses off to the beats of DJs Teo Nio and CRSB.
