On a beautiful, winter Saturday morning, we ventured to Cresta, right across from the world-famous St. Lawrence Market. Formerly Pastizza up until last November, it is named after the iconic Cresta Ridge vineyards in California, and hopes to bring the casual California vibe to its innovative Italian menu, more befitting of its surrounding neighbourhood. On this day we came for brunch – a favourite weekend activity of many Torontonians.

You probably already know that Portland Variety does breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between, and that recently it introduced its new winter menu. Now, you’ve got yet another reason to visit as Portland Variety introduces weekday brunch.

Francobollo Posto Italiano is a relatively new Italian restaurant, that opened up last December, situated along Avenue Road in North York, known for their Novo Italiano – 1st generation Italian – dishes.

Torontonians, myself included, seem to have a love for brunch. We love sleeping in on Sunday mornings, and then having a satisfying meal that’s both breakfast and lunch (how efficient!). It wasn’t long ago that we visited Yorkville‘s Kasa Moto for dinner and last Sunday we visited again to see what Kasa Moto is offering for brunch-loving crowd.

The Good Son has been on my list of restaurants to try since it opened in the summer of 2014. Helmed by Chef Vittorio Colacitti of Top Chef Canada, the restaurant promises a “menu [that] is a reflection of the melting pot of cultures that is entwined in the vibrant Queen West neighbourhood”. On December 2nd, we visited The Good Son to sample some of their signature dishes.

Bar Begonia is next in line to open as part of restaurateur Anthony Rose‘s next project, and on Thursday December 3rd, we got a sneak peak of the Paris-meets-Brooklyn style resto-bar. Tucked away in a standalone building with 3 large windows, Bar Begonia is a few steps away from two of his other Rose & Sons restaurants: Fat Pasha and Big Crow, making it his 6th one in the Annex.
