As we mentioned in our Top Upcoming Summer Music Festivals, it was worth the short trip to Kitchener for Day 2 on a cold rainy day to see Benny Benassi and Diplo on Sunday, May 31st, 2015 for the first Ever After Fest.

The rain was unrelenting throughout most of the day and EDM fans wore ponchos and rain boots yet were in good spirits as young, hardcore music fans are.

If Dad’s a fan of marvelous meats, he’ll love being a part of the Carnivore Club. Look no further if you’re searching for a unique gift for Father’s Day. This could satisfy some carnivorous cravings. For quality control purposes (of course), I gave one of the Carnivore Club boxes a ‘test-drive’.

On Thursday, May 28, we were at the official launch of the new Queen Street 501 Cider from Brickworks Ciderhouse. If you’re a Torontonian, you’ll be familiar with the 501 – the TTC’s streetcar route along Queen Street. It is the longest operating streetcar route in North America, running through eight Toronto neighbourhoods, and serving as the inspiration for the Queen Street 501 Cider.

Eight different kinds of Ontario heritage apples were used to craft this cider, representing the eight diverse neighbourhoods along the 501 streetcar route. The result – a refreshing, semi-sweet cider with a burst of apple flavour. We began the celebrations at Betty’s in the King East design district sampling the new cider. In attendance were Rock Lobster‘s chef and owner Matt Dean Pettit and Blake Sugden, Event Manager at Brickworks Ciderhouse.

Just outside Betty’s we proceeded to board a vintage streetcar, no longer in service, but specially commissioned just for the special event. Inside guests enjoyed live music from a jazz trio, and feasted on hotdogs from Fancy Franks. The streetcar took a route all around downtown Toronto, going through Queen West, Chinatown, the waterfront, and eventually stopping in King West. Passengers disembarked and continued the party at the Firkin on King, where they enjoyed bites and the Queen Street 501 cider.

Thanks to Brickworks Ciderhouse and VOCAB Communications for treating guests to the rare opportunity of riding a vintage TTC streetcar, and we wish them congratulations on the launch of the new Queen Street 501 Cider.

Do you turn to Google for health and medical expertise versus booking a doctor’s appointment? I often wonder why that’s the case and realize that although convenience certainly plays a role, it’s also about having a positive relationship with a doctor or a health specialist, which is tough to come by! We like Google because it’s non-judgmental, comfortable, quick, easy, and convenient. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could establish such a friendly relationship with a health specialist?

As many young professionals place a high value on overall health, we understand that what we put in and on our bodies is important. Thus, we try to eat organic or at least eat vegetables daily, we know that natural is the way to go, and we’re also conscious of supporting local sources. Yet, the biggest barrier between ‘us’ and ‘a better us’, is a positive, ongoing, comfortable relationship with a health specialist.  If that’s the case, I feel that you’ll like Tara Miller, a holistic nutritionist and health educator who recently opened the Health Hut Boutique on 171 Harbord St., just east of Bathurst.
