With a sprouting trend of healthy-eating, Basil Box blossoms as a Toronto fast-casual franchise, with the launch of their third location at the corner of Spadina. The restaurant offers customizable meals with a Thailand and Vietnamese twist using a concept inspired by – Ryerson alumni – owner Peter Chiu’s recent adventures to Southeast Asia, in awe of the daily grind of fresh produce being wheeled around in carts at the street market.

For those in the Financial District, you can escape the cubicle life on Fridays, as Maman celebrates lunch the Parisian way. Located at First Canadian Place on the Mezzanine Level, you can sit outside on their patio and enjoy their new “Maman à Table” $20 prix-fixe menu and table service.

The Wine Academy

Walking along Richmond St, I’m standing in front of two towering wooden doors. Unassuming and a contrast to the rest of the street, we were at the right location. Launched in June, The Wine Academy offers something unique in Canada, a not-so-average hideaway from the bustling city streets, especially in the downtown core where space is limited. Being part of the member’s club provides a place to enjoy wine, network, socialize and the ability to store your wine.

Lobster Salad at Lbs Restaurant

Lbs. Restaurant, pronounced “pounds”, had their grand opening last Friday, June 24. Located in the downtown core’s financial district, it’s a great addition to the restaurant scene in the area, featuring live lobsters, burgers, and cocktails.

Located in the heart of the Financial District at Adelaide and York, Drake One Fifty now serves an amazing weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Chef Ted Corrado and team have created a unique menu celebrating the season’s light flavours and bountiful produce that support local purveyors and farmers.

The Chase Fish & Oyster recently launched their new Sunday brunch offerings. Chase Fish & Oyster is a more casual option located on the main floor in the 19th century Dineen Building.
