For Chef Nick Liu, opening his new restaurant has been a journey more than two years in the making. Teaming up with sommelier Anton Potvin, and husband-and-wife team, Dave Dattels and Jen Grant, Liu’s restaurant has finally come to fruition. On August 7th DaiLo opened its doors, and we were there for a first look.

The first ever Taste Festival in North America was held in Toronto at the Fort York National Historic Site from July 24 to 27. This event brought together some of Toronto’s acclaimed chefs and rising stars of Toronto’s restaurant scene, allowing guests to sample over 50 dishes from their respective restaurants.

Located in the charming neighbourhood of Little Italy, YamChops (705 College Street) is a new option for those who wish to incorporate more veggie fares in their routine. Hailed as a vegetarian butcher shop (quite the intriguing oxymoron), this new eatery promotes plant-based proteins to be a staple of any kitchen or diet.
