New sushi and cocktail destination, BarFish, has now opened replacing what used to be the outdoor bar of Blowfish restaurant at the north east corner of King and Bathurst. Cocktails and sushi are at the forefront of this intimate and chic space with sky high ceilings.

I love Italian food. What makes Italian food so appealing to me is the philosophy behind Italian cuisine – a focus in highlighting local, in-season ingredients using traditional techniques that are executed well. When I heard that a new Italian restaurant was opening in King West, headed by Chef Luca Stracquadanio, formerly of Terroni LA, naturally I was excited. On Friday, November 14th, Nick and I had the pleasure of visiting the newly opened Ovest Cucina e Vineria.

It was a busy night on Wednesday May 28th, 2014 but the WEST Bar grand opening was definitely a highlight marking the revival of the original trendsetting King West hotspot from the ’90s.

As a nod back to the late ’90s, the original King West hotspot, “WEST” is back – the one that started all the King West liveliness. So now in 2014 it’s thoughtfully re-imagined with a group of savvy owners including Glen Baxter to cater to the mature social scene in Toronto.
