The Daily Bread Food Bank, along with support from the likes of Campbell’s and Nutella, held the Ultimate Food Challenge (UFC) again this year. Three talented local chefs competed at the fundraiser at Corus Quay last week, to fight for an end to hunger in our communities.

It’s no coincidence that the 3rd annual Kitchen Sisters event was held on International Women’s Day in support of Sistering, an organization that supports poor, homeless, marginalized and low-income women in Toronto. They do this by providing hot meals, emotional support and more. The program is in such high demand (currently at 400 meals a day) that the kitchen needs to be renovated to accommodate the demand. So Kitchen Sisters is a fundraising event that pays for these much-needed renovations…

On Oct 21, 2012 join over 130 chefs in possibly the largest one-day culinary soup-based protest in the world.  This delicious event will raise awareness to stop the proposed Highland Companies’ Mega-Quarry north of Toronto.   This follows last year’s sequel to 2011’s Foodstock, where dozens of chefs, farmers and musicians and 28,000 supporters gathered for this cause. Soupstock will be hosted by the Canadian Chef’s Congress and the David Suzuki Foundation. “While Foodstock was amazing, it only whet our appetite…
