If last year was any indication, this year’s Power Ball was sure to be amazing once again. Held at Canada’s leading contemporary art gallery on June 5th, The Power Plant, Power Ball 2014 welcomed over 1,500 guests who came to support the exhibitions and programs that the Power Plant holds every year.

It was a busy night on Wednesday May 28th, 2014 but the WEST Bar grand opening was definitely a highlight marking the revival of the original trendsetting King West hotspot from the ’90s.

The 2014 SummerWorks Performance Festival kicks off with a two-part bash at the historic Campbell House (160 Queen St. W.) on June 6th. The back-to-back events begins with The SummerWorks Exclusive (6:30 – 9:00pm), where the festival’s lineup will be announced, as well as a special appearance by Suits’ Patrick J. Adams. The night ends with the festival’s official Launch Party & Fundraiser.

June is Italian Heritage month and the festivities are not to be missed supporting Toronto’s lively Italian communities.

To kick things off, Liberty Entertainment Group will be launching a “Castello Italia” event where the majestic Casa Loma Gardens are boasted to be transformed into an authentic “Italian Piazza” experience.

Last weekend, I had the esteemed privilege of attending a rehearsal of the latest project by the critically acclaimed Arabesque Dance Company and Orchestra. Founded in 1992 in downtown Toronto, Arabesque features dance and music styles of the Middle East with contemporary twists. Titled SAWAH, meaning traveller or wanderer in Arabic, this latest dance and music production premieres on Thursday, April 10th at the Fleck Dance Theatre at Harbourfront Centre.

What’s the best way to spend a chilly start of the week? Lots of cocktails! Local bartenders flexing their skills battled it out at The Liberty Grand, Exhibition Place in front of 700 people this past Monday night. Organized by Made with Love, the annual cocktail competition brought together 17 finalists, representing various Toronto restaurants, to showcase the expanding mixology talent this city has to offer. One of two titles could be claimed, People’s Choice and Judge’s Choice.
