Growing from last year’s inaugural event, this 2nd iteration of the Diner en Blanc in Toronto had 1,600 participants come together at a secret location for an elegant pop-up picnic all dressed in white. Guests are brought to meet-up points and made aware of the venue at the last hour. It was in a parking lot at Queen Street just east of Church Street. I had recently lived nearby so it was interesting to see familiar grounds turned into a…
Running on it’s 19th year, it was another well-attended 3 days of the annual Toronto Festival of Beer, one of the largest celebrations of beer in Canada with over 200 beer brands to sample at Exhibition Place. Even with the popularity of the festival, the beer prices are a pretty good value (when you don’t count the admission fee). You can fill your glass beer mug for $2 at almost all the beer booths. I was lucky to snag one of the sold-out deluxe tickets but it was more fun just being on the floor with friends. It was visually spectacular with giant jellyfish hanging from the ceiling, incredible laser displays using water, jellyfish…
The 2nd annual Right to Play Charity Ball brought in a ton of celebrities in support of “Right to Play”, dubbed one of Canada’s fastest growing international humanitarian organizations. The Right to Play Ball was founded by Glen Baxter, fashion television journalist, host of CTV’s In Fashion, and just an all-round nice guy. It was an incredible success at last year’s gala where $80,000 was raised for the Right to Play charity. Any event at the Shangri-La Hotel is great…
