On September 21st, Two Oceans and Nederburg wine will play host to all the festivities of Canada Braai Day at The Distillery District. The unveiling of the Jack Layton statue with his widow, MP Olivia Chow

This morning it was a celebration of the former NDP leader Jack Layton on the 2 year anniversary of his death after his bout with cancer. To honour his memory, a bronze statue was unveiled with Jack Layton riding a tandem bicycle in the back seat allowing people to sit on the front seat and pose for photos. Running on it’s 19th year, it was another well-attended 3 days of the annual Toronto Festival of Beer, one of the largest celebrations of beer in Canada with over 200 beer brands to sample at Exhibition Place. Dubbed “An Evening to Discover”, the Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival Gala was a colourful night to remember. The warm, sunny weather was perfect for the evening starting off by being greeted at the Liberty Grand entrance by the elaborately decorated Junior Carnival King and Queen leading into the VIP reception at the outdoor courtyard for cocktails, silent auction and photo opportunities with the intricate, colorful costumed masqueraders. The Stop’s Night Market is a fundraising event, held at the Honest Ed’s alleyway, bringing together various chefs, food vendors and artists in support of The Stop’s innovative anti-hunger programs. This year, the event was on June 18 and 19, spanning 2 days instead of 1 in response to the overwhelming demand. What an amazing deal at only $50 for unlimited eats and drinks for such a great cause! This year they raised $115,000!
