After 6 months of pent-up demand for a much-needed authentic Italian dining hotspot in the area, renovations were finally completed for the Gooderham family mansion at 504 Jarvis Street. The summer patio, scheduled to open at the end of May, will seat 200 people and will feature music, authentic Italian barbecue and true European cocktails. Toronto’s well-known Keg mansion is just across the street but Ganzi doesn’t directly compete against it, as they both offer different experiences at different price…

On an unusually hot evening in April, we got invited to attend the Cutco Foodie Forever Event. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the friendly ladies from Cutco. We took no hesitation of trying the hors d’oeuvres as we mixed and mingled with food bloggers. The main event of the evening included cooking a healthy dinner along with simple knife lessons from Cutco. Everyone was grouped into small teams and taken into the kitchen. It’s no coincidence that the 3rd annual Kitchen Sisters event was held on International Women’s Day in support of Sistering, an organization that supports poor, homeless, marginalized and low-income women in Toronto. They do this by providing hot meals, emotional support and more. The program is in such high demand (currently at 400 meals a day) that the kitchen needs to be renovated to accommodate the demand. So Kitchen Sisters is a fundraising event that pays for these much-needed renovations…

To kick things off for the Terroir Symposium on April 8, 2013, a bunch of local chefs got together to create Toronto’s “Biggest Hero” sandwich, which consisted of an 8 foot long sub bun baked by the O&B bakery crew, cold cuts from Seed to Sausage, preserves from Stasis Preserves, hot sauce by Supicucu and pickles and chips from McClure’s Pickles. The sandwich was indeed very large, even when cut into pieces but it was very delicious and definitely a…
