The first ever Taste Festival in North America was held in Toronto at the Fort York National Historic Site from July 24 to 27. This event brought together some of Toronto’s acclaimed chefs and rising stars of Toronto’s restaurant scene, allowing guests to sample over 50 dishes from their respective restaurants.
We attended the TOM* (Toronto Men’s Fashion Week) opening night party at the Audi Downtown showroom last evening. The soiree included special performances by Runway Renee, Joseph of Mercury, Cedric and Diptych. Check out our photos.

New Balance Canada and Capsule Toronto launched their new shoe collaboration, NB X Capsule Tuxedo at WEST bar on Aug. 7th. The concept behind their limited edition sneaker is the ‘Canadian Tuxedo’- a denim button up shirt paired with jeans. Drawing on this inspiration, the shoe features a blue denim body and a bold red ‘N’ for the logo, giving that ‘tuxedo look.’

On our first night in downtown Stratford ahead of the Savour Stratford culinary food festival, we decided to visit Mercer Hall Restaurant for dinner.
The charming space, which also doubles as an inn on the second floor, carried a slight air of confidence with its high ceilings and glittering chandeliers, all the while maintaining a welcoming demeanour; case in point, the cozy banquettes that lined the walls and the warm chocolate brown glass case which stocked the restaurant’s wines.
On Thursday, Friday & Saturday from 5:00pm-7:00pm, there is a prix fixe offer of either 2 Courses: $48 or 3 Courses : $54. We opted for 3 courses each.

High flying Rock’n;Horse Saloon is the talk of downtown these days when it comes to casual summer patio parties. On July 23rd, after the GotStyle 19 Crimes wine party in the Distillery District, socialites headed over to WEST bar at King West to celebrate Glen Baxter’s birthday.
It’s also the launch of Bread & Butter, a new series of industry night parties every Wednesday at WEST Bar hosted by fashionable socialites: Glen Baxter, Amanda Lew Kee and Lance Chung (editor at Sharp Magazine).
That was quite a grand show on July 19th at the Rogers Centre for the Jay-Z & Beyonce “On the Run” Tour that spanned cities in North America (even Winnipeg just last Sunday and also France).
I had already seen Jay-Z in Toronto with Kanye West on the Watch the Throne tour and then Jay-Z with Justin Timberlake on the Legends of the Summer tour. I also had the opportunity to see Beyonce’s solo show last year as well.
So I wasn’t planning to go but when you get an invite for the first Canadian taste of Jay-Z’s favourite cognac that is yet to be released at this sold-out show, you obviously can’t say no.
