Winterlicious just started, where you can take the opportunity to discover restaurants around Toronto.

On a beautiful, winter Saturday morning, we ventured to Cresta, right across from the world-famous St. Lawrence Market. Formerly Pastizza up until last November, it is named after the iconic Cresta Ridge vineyards in California, and hopes to bring the casual California vibe to its innovative Italian menu, more befitting of its surrounding neighbourhood. Dinner with Scientists was held on November 16th celebrating over 30 years of scientific discovery at Sinai Health System’s Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI). The event was held at The Carlu raising a whopping $1 million and brought together the scientific and philanthropic community for an evening of curiosity and possibility.

The event featured special guest speaker, the chief medical correspondent for CNN Dr. Sanjay Gupta and host Allison Vuchnich from Global News.

The Good Son has been on my list of restaurants to try since it opened in the summer of 2014. Helmed by Chef Vittorio Colacitti of Top Chef Canada, the restaurant promises a “menu [that] is a reflection of the melting pot of cultures that is entwined in the vibrant Queen West neighbourhood”. On December 2nd, we visited The Good Son to sample some of their signature dishes.

Paint Cabin, a rustic-themed art studio with a cafe and fully-licensed bar, has become the newest hip hangout spot for those who want to feed both their creativity and their stomachs at the same time. Their cafe features housemade espresso – cafe mocha and chai latte to name a few – and a large variety of pastries from local bakeries such as Wanda’s Pie in the Sky and Earth & City.
