AwesTRUCK is an annual celebration of food trucks and every year it gets more enticing. In the first year, admission was $60 then down to $35. And now this year admission is free.

Last night guests dressed their best at the annual invite-only Toronto Life “Most Stylish” party to celebrate TIFF opening night in style. The event proved to be dynamite and definitely lived up to its name. Everywhere you looked there was beauty after beauty sparkling and smiling in all their signature glory.

TIFF is all the buzz in Toronto right now and now you can be in the centre of all the TIFF action with a brunch party of all brunch parties at the TIFF Bell Lightbox rooftop.

Official sponsor for TIFF, clothing line EXPRESS hosted a private affair to showcase some of their holiday collection at Parlour (270 Adelaide St. W.) on Aug. 27th. Definitely some chic stunners for men and women attending TIFF parties. There was a vast amount of clothing from the line to choose from, and we were so inspired we styled one look that was our absolute fave.

As is the case every year, the Producers Ball is known to kick off the annual TIFF celebrations at the Royal Ontario Museum bringing out a fair share of TIFF directors, stars and, of course, producers. Last night it was a circus-themed soiree complete with circus acts, contortionists, ice cream from Sweet Sammies and even fun cocktails topped with cotton candy garnish.

DJs from Toronto and from around the world will come together for one day on September 19, 2014 at Fort York in Toronto. And we’re giving away a pair of VIP tickets to the new music festival, Play. That’s a $130 value!

On Monday, August 25, Toronto bloggers congregated at 777 Dundas Street West for Bent’s Veggielicious workshop. The restaurant is owned by internationally celebrated chef Susur Lee, managed by his sons, Kai and Levi, and designed by none other than its namesake, wife and mother of the men, Brenda Bent. Meeting a world-renowned chef can be an intimidating experience, but Chef Lee welcomed us with open arms, always reminding us, “This is my home. And my home is your home.”

The event consisted of a French meringue tutorial, two cocktail tutorials from bartender Manuel, and a taste preview of the Veggielicious prix fixe menu.

On Sunday August 24th I sampled almost the entire Insalate e Antipasti menu at Trattori Mercatto at the Toronto Eaton Centre.

Harley Quinn and Deadpool share a moment with a bat

I didn’t get a chance to stay long at this weekend’s FanExpo Canada – basically just in and out, but I was able to snap some cosplay photos of Deadpool, Ms Deadpool and Harley Quinn and a couple others.

Thanks to Makenzie Smith (Harley Quinn) and Chris Guidotti (Deadpool) for making my quick trip interesting.

Executive chef and entrepreneur Toben Kochman, owner of Toben Food by Design, presented a new pop-up restaurant concept, TWISTED.

From his travels throughout Asia, South America, and Europe, chef Toben Kochman’s street food inspired flavours and ingredients have hitchhiked a ride back to Toronto and onto our dinner plates.

Recently opened in the Queen and Roncesvalles area, Mata Petisco Bar is run by of a team of 5 for the love of South American food.

Recently opened in Toronto’s Entertaiment District on Adelaide just east of Duncan is the upscale Japanese restaurant, Shibui Robata. It shares the same open-space just below the newest expansion of the popular Copacabana Brazilian Rodizio.

Robata translated as “fireside cooking” is a Japanese method of hot charcoal fire cooking that originated in the Northeastern part of Japan.

Parties that happen during TIFF are among Toronto’s most highly sought-after every year and they’re great for catching glimpses of international celebrities strutting their stuff and looking their best on red carpets. But it’s even better when there’s a purpose behind it all.

Personally, I’m a fan of tasting menus, as you get to try out many of the restaurant’s dishes, giving you a good feel for what the restaurant is all about. There are quite a few great tasting menus in this amazing foodie city, and the #HKDateNight menu is Hudson Kitchen’s entry in this field.

Kicking off the wonderful, crowd-pleasing Scotiabank Buskerfest, the 6th annual Buskerball charity gala was held once again at the Mattamy Athletic Centre on August 19th, 2014.

The death of legendary Canadian artist, Alex Colville, last summer was a moment to mourn, but it was important for Andrew Hunter, curator of Canadian art at the AGO, that he and his team did not close the book. The intention of AGO’s latest exhibition, Alex Colville, is never to memorialize the realist painter and his life but to reflect on “his phenomenal legacy—70 years of working as an artist, a very serious committed artist, a very serious Canadian artist.”

Parking the Audi S5 Cabriolet in front of Deerhurst Resort in Bracebridge. Photo snapped with the Samsung Galaxy S5.

It was an absolute dream to drive a 2014 Audi S5 Cabriolet in blazing red. Usually I wouldn’t want red for being too showy but this car certainly warrants the attention. It’s a sporty yet very refined convertible with a supercharged engine producing a whopping 333 hp with only 3.0L of displacement. Audi boasts that this is V8 power with the efficiency of a V6 engine.

For Chef Nick Liu, opening his new restaurant has been a journey more than two years in the making. Teaming up with sommelier Anton Potvin, and husband-and-wife team, Dave Dattels and Jen Grant, Liu’s restaurant has finally come to fruition. On August 7th DaiLo opened its doors, and we were there for a first look.

At every turn, you’re greeted with an abundance of smiles, waves, and hellos. Is this some far away land? No, it isn’t Oz per say, but rather 1 ½ hours just southwest of Toronto. And, no, there is no ulterior motive to their welcoming exchange; they’re not trying to get you to buy or sign up for something, this is just the town of Stratford’s natural demeanour. The folks here are just so darned friendly! It also doesn’t hurt when the city is a thriving mecca for fantastical culinary eats.

It’s a wrap! The first-ever TOM* (Toronto Men’s Fashion Week) closed it’s runways Thursday, August 14th, at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.

There was excitement to catch a glimpse of closing designer, HD Homme’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection. Once the lights went down, the runways of TOM* delivered a show of class, with a special appearance by model/actor Nick Bateman.
