Bar Begonia is next in line to open as part of restaurateur Anthony Rose‘s next project, and on Thursday December 3rd, we got a sneak peak of the Paris-meets-Brooklyn style resto-bar. Tucked away in a standalone building with 3 large windows, Bar Begonia is a few steps away from two of his other Rose & Sons restaurants: Fat Pasha and Big Crow, making it his 6th one in the Annex.
I remember my first visit to Portland Variety in the summer of 2014. Back then I was quite impressed with the delicious food and amazing cocktails. Flash forward to November 2015, and we’re visiting again to see what’s new and exciting on Portland Variety’s new fall/winter menu.
The first-ever Fete Chinoise was a dazzling display of high end decor immersing guests in an inspiring spectacle that took over all the ballrooms on the 3rd floor of the Shangri-La Hotel including the heated outdoor terrace.
Showcasing the finest of Chinese and Asian culture with modern interpretations by hundreds of hours of artists’ works, talent and craftsmanship in each installation.
During the busy holiday season your time is stretched with shopping for gifts, obligatory company parties and just unexpected twists that happen in real life.
So when you’re hosting your own holiday party and your guests are about to come over, it’s all about minimizing prep time. Because the holiday season is all about maximizing quality time with friends and family.
This November e11even restaurant turns 5, and we were invited to celebrate with none other than their signature dishes & cocktails, as well as a sneak peak into new ones to be added to the fall and winter menu. All the dishes were presented by Executive Chef Evan Tandy, who’s also worked at Real Sports Bar and Grill, since 2011.
We were invited to an intimate dining experience at MoRoCo Chocolat for an evening of indulgence. Walking in, the décor is chic. If you’re unfamiliar with MoRoCo Chocolat, located in the heart of Yorkville, imagine stepping into an Alice in Wonderland world, filled with Victorian-styled chairs, dark velvet curtains, vintage teapots, silver deer and gnomes.
The Italian restaurant, Coco Lezzone, located in the Yorkville district (137 Avenue Road), provided us the ultimate 4-course pairing dining experience on Tuesday November 17th. This event was hosted by the 360 Gourmet Club, a new pop-up event service that gives diners a taste of a chef’s creations, a guide-through of each course, as well as take-home recipes and specialty ingredients. Chef Marlon Graham and master mixologist/TV host, Jeremy Parsons, took us through the first interactive dining experience.
It’s not everyday you get to have dinner with a sixth-generation Spanish Vintner as renowned as Bodegas Osborne, but as unlikely as it seems, here I am graced with Rocio Osborne’s presence. Despite the fact that she’s the brand ambassador of her namesake wine, she’s supremely humble and friendly. In fact, she’s floating around like a gracious host and ensuring we’re having a lovely evening. And how could we not: Spanish wines are flowing and so too is the phenomenal Spanish food, courtesy of Chef Stuart Cameron and his staff at Patria.
Celebrating Canadian design firm Yabu-Pushelberg, the annual Design Exchange fundraising gala was held on Saturday, November 7th, 2015. Even though Halloween was the weekend prior, there were many guests and dancers who dressed up in Kismet-inspired costumes for this elegant design party.
DX Kismet gala took over the entire design museum with hundreds in attendance (including our #DXKISMET giveaway winner, Erika Komori!) and it was quite a treat. Check out photos below!
After the huge turnout at the launch of Artemano Vaughan, Artemano is now having a grand opening celebration for their newest location in Don Mills and we’d like you to join us with tunes, appetizers by The Food Dudes and a 50% discount!

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s 2015 season opening gala was held on September 24th, 2015. It was an elegant evening to kick off the 2015/2016 season, the TSO’s signature fundraising event. First it started with a VIP welcome reception at Roy Thompson Hall followed by a performance by violinist Pinchas Zukerman accompanied by Peter Oundijan and the TSO.
The Taste of Iceland is back for a fifth time from Nov 12th to 15th with four days of festivities and a dazzling array of Icelandic food, music, film and culture.
Pilates takes time, effort and grit to do well. It requires dedication, persistence, and mental and physical effort during every single session and class. It’s exhausting, not because you’re moving too much, but because for the first time you’re realizing that it is possible to get and stay fit by consciously benefiting your body, and mind without vigor. If I didn’t try Lili Viola’s classical Pilates classes, all of this would sound too good to be true, and frankly, like a bunch of silliness. In this post, I’ll attempt to showcase that there isn’t much like it out there, in my opinion, like Lili’s classical Pilates training in Toronto. From everyday women and men getting or staying in shape to pro and amateur athletes, would enjoy and reap the benefits of Lili’s lessons and classes.
On October 27th, Eat to the Beat was once again held at Toronto’s Roy Thompson Hall. The 2015 edition of this foodie-lovers-dream event marks its 20th year. Since its inception, over $3.7 million has been raised for Willow Breast and Hereditary Cancer Support, a non-for-profit organization offering peer support for anyone coping with breast cancer.
Usually Sinai Soiree takes place in the summer but this time the stakes were raised for a Halloween edition of the annual charity party. As usual it was a sold-out affair with 600 young professionals in costume in attendance. Toronto’s castle, Casa Loma, was the perfect haunted house for a Halloween party.
