It was rather surreal to be sitting down for lunch with an influential figure in Toronto’s culinary scene– but it happened. If anything, it just reinforces the notion that the person we sat down with — Chef Mark McEwan — is a very down-to- earth individual.

At Bymark restaurant, in the bustling financial district of Toronto, we tasted a marriage of Canadian food with wine from New Zealand. It was a deliberate showcase seasonal ingredients and wines that complement the flavours in each dish.

This colossal event is consistently known for seamlessly integrating music, art, and fashion into an immersive and unique cultural experience for attendees. Inspired by the villainess of Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute, guests were encouraged to embrace their dark seductive side with their sartorial choices. Sleek dresses with hints of leather, lace, and soft gold flakes were adorned by numerous gala attendees to complement the theme of the evening.

In the biggest annual Curve Ball gala to date, and having been witness to the last 3 myself, it’s easy to see why it keeps growing with 1,500 baseball fans in attendance this time.

Boil Bar has changed up the Markham dining scene after opening in February with their Louisiana-style seafood restaurant. Inspired by the Southern trend, this family-friendly experience allows us to be fully hands-on with our food. Guests can be fully immersed in our meal, surrounded by detailed nautical-themed decor; orange seats, wooden walls, and murals of their seafood all over the restaurant. Each table is also equipped with tissue, paper towels, a bib, gloves, a claw cracker, and a metal pail for the shells.

It was a star-studded evening for CAFA’s biggest gala yet in their 3rd iteration of the annual Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards gala celebrating achievements in fashion. Guests included Madame Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau, Coco Rocha, Kim Cattrall, Elle Macpherson, and Karlie Kloss.

It’s been 8 months since their launch of Chef & Somm – a private chef service, and Chef Eyal Liebman and Sommelier Rebecca Meir-Liebman invited us to experience their 6 course wine and dine pairings at the Wine Cellar of Spiga Ristorante (1378 Yonge Street). For the evening, the duo provided a spectacular bespoke dining where the chef prepared dishes onsite using the kitchen – as opposed to semi-prepared catering – with the sommelier’s story sharing that ties into their choice of ingredients and wine.

On Friday, April 8, 2016, the Pink Pearl Foundation proudly presented it’s 10th annual Black & White with a Touch of Pink fundraising gala. The event was very beautiful, and definitely had a warm welcoming vibe, with hundreds of guests basking in the pink lights in support of young women battling cancer. It was a celebration of life and a beautiful one to be had.

Launched in 2015, Hope for Hearts is an annual fundraiser in support of Heart Research performed in the Echocardiography Laboratory at the Hospital for Sick Children.

The third annual “Glitter In Macau” gala, in support of SickKids Foundation, was hosted on March 5, 2016 at Arcadian Court. The glamorous night was filled with amazing food, open bar and attendees were able to test their luck at blackjack tables, roulette or play the wheel of fortune.
